The Carlsbad Science Foundation is a non-profit philanthropic organization devoted to finding solutions to three major sources of human suffering. The Foundation is devoted to humanitarian efforts, principally of a scientific nature. The emphasis of most CSF programs is to address the root causes of major problems confronting mankind, such as disease, energy needs, and human conflict. The Foundation is committed to programs that expand our understanding of the human condition and support the advancement of bio-medical sciences. In addition, the foundation is committed to the development of new technologies that will benefit mankind in the areas of biomedical instrumentation, alternative energy, and salt-water desalination. The mechanisms for achieving these Foundation goals include grants and contract programs to support hi-impact/hi-need research areas, institutes devoted to specific research areas, and the creation of an International Science Consortium that promotes cooperation between universities and between nations in the achievement of major scientific goals.
