The Carlsbad Science Foundation includes separate institutes for studies of the genetic basis of common diseases, alternative energy sources, and salt-water conversion systems.

The Carlsbad Science Foundation

The Carlsbad Science Foundation is a non-profit philanthropic organization situated in Carlsbad, California. The Foundation is devoted to humanitarian efforts, principally of a scientific nature. The emphasis of most CSF programs is to address the root causes of major problems confronting mankind, such as disease, energy needs, and human conflict. The Foundation is committed to programs that expand our understanding of the human condition and support the advancement of bio-medical sciences. In addition, the foundation is committed to the development of new technologies that will benefit mankind in the areas of biomedical instrumentation, alternative energy, and salt-water desalination. The mechanisms for achieving these Foundation goals include grants and contract programs to support hi-impact/hi-need research areas, institutes devoted to specific research areas, and the creation of an International Science Consortium that promotes cooperation between universities and between nations in the achievement of major scientific goals.

Philosophy

The core philosophy of the Carlsbad Science Foundation is to utilize its funds in a fashion that will have long-term effects on the betterment of humanity. Thus:

  • The funds for health care will be devoted to understanding the basic cause of common diseases, thus allowing for better treatment, prevention and cure.

  • The funds for alternative energy resources will be devoted to the development of new, cheaper, more efficient and renewable sources of energy that avoid the burning of fossil fuels and the production of dangerous or radioactive products.

  • The funds for salt-water conversion systems will be devoted to the development of methods of converting salt-water to fresh water for the purpose of providing irrigation for arid countries.
